Trading suddenly stopped?

Updated: 07/12/2026 · 2 min read

When is a pause normal?

If you notice the account managed by the Engine has no new trades for a day or two — stay calm, this is completely normal. It usually happens when the difference between your current portfolio and the target allocation is smaller than the minimum tradable size across all assets. The Engine won't place pointless trades just to "look active" — it trades only when needed.

Occasionally the team runs scheduled maintenance, so a short pause (around two days) can happen without affecting how the Alpha performs.

Important: whatever the reason for a pause, your funds always stay on your own exchange. AlphaSet never holds your assets.

Reasons the Engine stops placing new trades

If the pause drags on, check the common causes below:

1. Exchange connection no longer valid

  • API key revoked, expired, or permissions changed on the exchange → the Engine loses trade access and stops immediately. Recreate the API key (trade-only permission, NO withdrawal) and reconnect. See [[connect-bingx]] and [[api-connection-errors]].
  • Alpha Stock VN: if your trading authorization (SACO) is revoked in Entrade X, the Engine can no longer place orders on your behalf. Re-sign the authorization to resume.

2. Subscription has ended

  • If your subscription has expired or been cancelled, the Engine stops all Alphas. Renew to resume. See [[billing-and-payment]] and [[cancel-subscription]].
  • If you have an unpaid Balance Adjustment Fee past the 7-day grace period, only the affected Alpha is suspended (positions stay on the exchange, the Engine only pauses new signals). Once paid → the Alpha resumes automatically. See [[balance-adjustment-fee]].

3. Exchange-side error

  • Exchange maintenance, API rate limits, or a temporary exchange issue can briefly interrupt orders. These usually recover on their own once the exchange is back to normal.

When should I contact support?

  • No trading activity at all for more than 72 hours → open the in-app support chat as soon as possible.
  • You've checked API key, subscription, and exchange and all look fine, but the Engine still isn't running → message support and the team will investigate.

See [[contact-support]] for how to send the right details.
