Cancel subscription

Updated: 07/12/2026 · 3 min read

There are two ways a subscription ends, and the outcome depends on which applies:

  1. Voluntary cancellation (you click cancel)
  2. Expiry due to non-payment

1. Voluntary cancellation (you cancel)

When you cancel manually in the app:

  • The Alpha keeps running normally until the end of your paid period.
  • No new charges are applied.
  • At the end of the period → the subscription does not auto-renew, and the Engine automatically stops placing new trades.

Like a music/video subscription: cancelling stops renewal but doesn't cut short the period you've already paid for.

2. Expiry due to non-payment

If the subscription isn't renewed on time:

  • The paid period ends, and you get a "subscription expired, payment required" notice.
  • If payment isn't made within 7 days, AlphaSet stops all trading activity.

What happens to positions depends on the Alpha type:

Spot / cash-based Alphas (e.g. Alpha Index, the cash-equities part of Alpha Stock VN):

  • The Engine stops placing new trades.
  • Your portfolio stays as it was when trading stopped.
  • Assets remain in your exchange account.

Derivatives / futures-based Alphas (e.g. Alpha Crypto, the VN30F1M part of Alpha Stock VN):

  • Open positions are closed.
  • Funds are converted to the base asset (e.g. USDT, or the relevant settlement currency).
  • No new positions are opened.

Closing derivatives positions on stop avoids leaving unmanaged leveraged exposure after the Engine stops.

Want to stop trading NOW

Don't want to wait for the period to end? Two ways to stop immediately:

  1. Manual disconnection
    • Crypto: disable / delete your API key on the exchange, then manually close any open positions in the exchange interface.
    • Stock VN: revoke the trading authorization (SACO) in Entrade X (the Engine stops the moment authorization is revoked).
  2. Request support
    • Contact support via in-app chat or email for help stopping trading before the period ends.

Note: AlphaSet never has withdrawal access to your exchange. Your funds always stay on your own exchange, under your control.

Frequently asked questions

Do I get a refund for the remaining period if I cancel? Voluntary cancellation isn't refunded — the Alpha runs out the period you already paid for, so you still get the full value.

If I cancel and re-subscribe, do I get the 37-day bonus again? No. The 37-day bonus applies once only, on the account's first monthly signup. See [[billing-and-payment]].

I owe an adjustment fee — what happens if I cancel? An adjustment fee only affects the specific Alpha involved and doesn't disappear on its own; contact support to have it recalculated. See [[balance-adjustment-fee]].
