Start / Pause / Stop an Alpha
On the dashboard, each Alpha has its own controls. This section explains the difference between Pause and Stop, and what happens to your open positions.
Start an Alpha
- Go to the dashboard → select the Alpha → tap Start.
- The Quant Engine begins managing the full balance in the connected trading wallet, opening positions on signal and rebalancing 24/7.
- The badge turns 🟢 Running.
Pause an Alpha
- Tap Pause on the Alpha card. The badge turns 🟡 Pausing.
- The Quant Engine stops opening new positions.
- Any open positions are kept as they are on your exchange — the Engine still watches them to manage/close when needed (e.g. hitting take-profit / stop-loss), but it won't establish new ones.
- Use this for a short break without disturbing your current portfolio.
- Resume anytime: tap Resume → the badge returns to 🟢 Running.
Stop an Alpha
- Tap Stop on the Alpha card. The badge turns 🔴 Off.
- The Quant Engine fully stops managing that Alpha: no new positions, and it no longer manages existing positions.
- Important: when you Stop, open positions are NOT automatically closed unless you choose the close-positions option at stop time. If you keep positions open, you'll need to monitor and manage them yourself on your exchange.
- Use this when you want to halt an Alpha for a long time or exit entirely.

Pause vs Stop — quick comparison
| 🟡 Pause | 🔴 Stop | |
|---|---|---|
| Opens new positions | No | No |
| Open positions | Engine still manages | Engine stops managing — it's on you |
| Purpose | Short break | Long halt / exit |
| Resuming | One tap (Resume) | Restart from scratch |
Emergency stop
If you need to cut off all activity immediately: revoke AlphaSet's access on your exchange (delete/disable the API key, or for Alpha Stock VN, revoke the SACO trading authorization in Entrade X). The Engine loses its connection instantly. Note: when this happens, all open positions stay exactly as they are — you must check and manage them yourself on the exchange to avoid risk from market moves.
Your funds go nowhere
Whether you start, pause, or stop, your funds always stay on your own exchange. AlphaSet never holds your assets — the Quant Engine has trade-only permission, never withdrawal.
