Cancel subscription

Updated: 09/20/2026 · 3 min read

There are two ways a subscription ends, and the outcome depends on which applies:

  1. Voluntary cancellation (you click cancel)
  2. Expiry due to non-payment

1. Voluntary cancellation (you cancel)

When you cancel manually in the app:

  • The Alpha keeps running normally until the end of your paid period.
  • No new charges are applied.
  • At the end of the period → the subscription does not auto-renew, and the Engine automatically stops placing new trades.

Like a music/video subscription: cancelling stops renewal but doesn't cut short the period you've already paid for.

2. Expiry due to non-payment

If the subscription isn't renewed on time:

  • The paid period ends, and you get a "subscription expired, payment required" notice.
  • If payment isn't made within 7 days, AlphaSet stops all trading activity.

What happens to positions:

  • AlphaSet stops opening new positions and stops adjusting existing ones.
  • Open positions are left as they are. AlphaSet does not close them for you. They stay in your exchange or brokerage account.
  • Alpha Stock: stop-loss / take-profit orders placed earlier remain active and can still fill. Alpha Crypto: there are no protective stop-loss / take-profit orders; positions stay as they are until you close them on the exchange yourself.
  • While trading is stopped, monitoring and closing positions (if you want to) is up to you, directly on the venue.

Why AlphaSet does not close them: AlphaSet only has order-placement rights, never holds your funds, and does not decide on your behalf once the plan is no longer active. If you want positions closed before trading stops, pause the Alpha and close them on the venue yourself.

Want to stop trading NOW

Don't want to wait for the period to end? Two ways to stop immediately:

  1. Manual disconnection
    • Crypto: disable / delete your API key on the exchange, then manually close any open positions in the exchange interface.
    • Stock: revoke the trading authorization (SACO) in Entrade X (the Engine stops the moment authorization is revoked).
  2. Request support
    • Contact support via in-app chat or email for help stopping trading before the period ends.

Note: AlphaSet never has withdrawal access to your exchange. Your funds always stay on your own exchange, under your control.

Frequently asked questions

Do I get a refund for the remaining period if I cancel? Voluntary cancellation isn't refunded - the Alpha runs out the period you already paid for, so you still get the full value.

If I cancel and re-subscribe, do I get the 37-day bonus again? No. The 37-day bonus applies once only, on the account's first monthly signup. See [[billing-and-payment]].

My balance is over the cap - what happens if I cancel? It has no effect on cancelling, and there's no balance-related fee. Through your paid period, the Engine still manages up to the cap, and the excess stays on your exchange. See [[aum-caps-per-alpha]].
